TENANTS RIGHTS IN FORECLOSURE PROCESS?
Monday, December 28th, 2009I JUST RECEIVED A NOTICE OF ENTRY. THE BUILDING IN WHICH I RENT AN APARTMET FROM IS IN FORECLOSURE. WHAT IS THE NEXT STEP? HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO MOVE? I REACHED THE PLAINTIFF’S ATTORNEY AND THE INFORMED ME THAT THE MORTGAGE WAS DEFAULTED SINCE JULY 2009. SHOULD I CONTINUE PAYING RENT? AM I PROTECTED IN ANYWAY? I CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY RENT AND HAVE MOVING EXPENSES. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT IS THE NEXT STEP AND HOW LONG DOES THIS PROCESS TAKE.
You wont have to move, whne a bank forecloses on an apartment they are required to hire a manager and continue to rent to you. it may even be the present manager. You really should not be effected at all. You would only have to leave if you defaulted on rent.
