Help With Foreclosure
Finding people to help with foreclosure can often feel like an uphill battle. It can also simply be difficult to ask for help. I had to often remind myself of what the costs would be if I didn’t ask for help during my foreclosure. The costs are high. The loss of your home and the loss of the ability to have another home for several years (estimates I’ve seen range from 3 to 7 years). Providing a home for my daughter was a priority for me. Looking in her face reminded me of what I was fighting for.
Okay, so how do you actually go about getting help with foreclosure? Surprising but true, one of my best resources for help was my mortgage company’s foreclosure department. They helped me understand how the foreclosure process worked with my mortgage company and what I needed to do in order to save my home.
The one thing I did not do that I wish I did during my foreclosure was get help with foreclosure from an attorney. I did not fully understand my rights or everything that I was signing. An attorney who understands the rules and who could have explained things to me would have been extremely helpful.
