Who Can Help You Stop Foreclosure Sale?

Monday, November 29th, 2010

That really depends on your situation. If you want to save your home, you will need to go looking in one direction. If you are not interested in saving your home or cannot save it, there is a different direction entirely that you should go down.

If you are looking at trying to keep your home, look for foreclosure resources in your area to help you stop foreclosure sale on you home. Why local? Because foreclosure works differently in every state and only local resources will be able to help you understand what your timeline is and what likely options you have open to you. Local HUD resources, foreclosure classes in your area, or a local hotline number are good places to get help.

If you do not want to save your home or cannot, selling your house will likely be your best option. If you bought your home several years ago, you may be lucky enough to be able to sell your house without a loss. If you are in the same boat as most people today, your home is worth less than what you paid for it a few years ago. In that case, you need to talk to your lender about doing a short sale and you need to find a realtor who understands short sales.

Tools to Stop Foreclosure Sale

Friday, September 10th, 2010

Where can you find the tools that you need to stop foreclosure sale on your home? What are the best tools available? How do you know where to look?

Let’s start with how you know where to look. As a general rule, help with your foreclosure will not show up at your door. So those letters that you get promising to get you out of foreclosure quickly and easily are most likely a scam. However, the notice in the mail from your county with information about a free foreclosure class is not a scam. And looking for help from your county, city or state is a great place to start. Many areas have free resources to help you stop foreclosure sale.

What about the best tools available? Those will be ones that can help you with your specific situation. Some areas have a foreclosure hotline available that has foreclosure counselors on hand to help you with your specific situation. There is also a national hotline available through Hope Now. On that hotline you can speak with counselors about your unique situation and they can help you come up with solutions to save your home.

How to Stop Foreclosure Sale

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

Finding a way to stop foreclosure sale on your home can be difficult, especially if you are having a hard time working with your mortgage company. So how can you do it? What options do you have?

Sometimes getting a third party involved can be what is needed to have your mortgage company work with you. Getting an attorney is ideal since they have knowledge of the laws involved with the foreclosure process and how to best protect your interests. The mortgage company will also likely take an attorney more seriously than they will take you.

If you cannot get an attorney, the next best thing is getting advice from a third party about what to do in your situation. Talking to a HUD approved housing counselor could be just what you need to figure out how to deal with your mortgage company or to figure out a way around your mortgage company.

It is also a good idea to do some research to see what the foreclosure laws are in your state and what rights you have under those foreclosure laws. You do have some protection under those laws but you need to know what they are so that you can use them to your advantage.

Can You Stop Foreclosure Sale?

Monday, January 19th, 2009

Can you stop foreclosure sale on your home before it is too late? That depends mainly on you. If you do want to stop foreclosure sale, you will need to work quickly and get well educated about foreclosure. The more you know and the more you do with what you know, the greater chance you have of being able to stop foreclosure sale on your home.

You need to work quickly with your mortgage company. You need to do this in part because they will have a tendency to work slowly. Give them all of the paperwork they need as soon as you can. If they leave you a message, return their call as soon as possible. If you want to stop foreclosure sale, you have to provide your mortgage company with exactly what they need when they need it or even before they need it.

Getting well educated about foreclosure means doing some digging and taking the time to truly understand all of the paperwork and legal documentation that the mortgage company sends you. In order to understand your foreclosure, it is good to know what the foreclosure laws are for your state and what your state’s foreclosure timeline is. Whether or not you can stop foreclosure sale depends at least in part on those dates. You have to know when your foreclosure sale date is in order to stop it before it happens.

A Plan
If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Come up with some sort of plan, any plan to stop foreclosure sale on your home. Even a bad plan is better than no plan at all. Just make sure that it is a plan that you believe is possible for you.

Processes

Ways to Stop Foreclosure Sale

Monday, December 8th, 2008

Finding ways to stop foreclosure sale on your home can feel intimidating. Believe me, I know. My own home was less than 30 days away from being sold at auction when I saved it from foreclosure. There are ways to stop foreclosure sale on your home but you will need to act quickly and decisively.

Look into your legal options. This is best done with the help of an attorney. An attorney will be much more familiar with the laws for your state and what options are open to you to stop foreclosure sale. Depending on how your loan is written, there is even the possibility that you can dispute the validity of the loan itself. An attorney versed in foreclosure will be able to help you figure out if this is an option for you.

Work with your bank. This is how I was able to stop foreclosure sale on my home. This is not always easy and you will often be working with very short timeframes. The turnaround times on having to get documents back to them was often very tight, we’re talking days and typically just one or two days in my own situation. Be prepared to act quickly and provide lots of documentation.

What You Can Do To Stop Foreclosure Sale

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

Finding a way to stop foreclosure sale on your home can feel impossible when you are in the middle of foreclosure and a sale date is looming. I know how scary that can be, I’ve been there. But it is possible to stop it, you just need to figure out how to do it.

Talking to your bank is a good first step. If you work with them, you might be able to ask them to have their lawyers submit a continuance on the foreclosure sale date that will delay the sale. The lawyers for my mortgage company did this automatically as soon as I worked with my bank and signed a legal agreement to make a portion of the payments. Finding some way to work with your bank is critical if you want to stop foreclosure sale.

Getting your own lawyer to help you understand your options is also not a bad idea. They can help you understand the foreclosure process and how to stop foreclosure sale on your home. If you can possibly afford an attorney, it is always a good idea to have your own legal advice to help you during this time.
